Faculty Awards

The School for Cultural and Social Transformation offers a range of support for faculty.

Unless otherwise specified, the term faculty refers to both tenure-line and career line faculty. Faculty with below 0.5 FTE in Transform receive support at the 0.5 FTE level. We encourage faculty to seek matching funds from their other departments or divisions.

Transform Travel Award: Up to TWO $1500 awards

Eligibility: Career line and tenure line faculty with full or partial appointments in Transform

Application deadline: September 15, 2020

Support Range: Support can be requested for research-related travel that occurred/is planned between March 15, 2020 and March 15, 2021.

The travel support funds are intended to support faculty research. Applications should indicate how travel will support either a faculty member’s core or emerging research focus or how the travel can benefit Transform programs, curriculum, or the greater community.  Priority will be given to faculty without or with insufficient development funds. We aim, when possible, to support both one career line and one tenure annually. After receipt of a Transform Travel Award, faculty will not be eligible for 3 award cycles.

Please send a brief application letter to Claudia.geist@utah.edu by September 15, 2020. All applications will be reviewed by the Transform Research Committee.

Application letters should detail the purpose of the trip and its benefit to the faculty member’s research or Transform programs. Please also include information about the budget and a note about alternative funding sources for this travel (development funds, other travel support programs, etc.), or lack thereof.
