Major

Students who major in Gender Studies can choose to pursue either a BS or a BA, or an Honors BS or BA. The major consists of 30 credit hours broken down in the following requirements: an introduction to Gender Studies course, two core courses (GNDR 3900 and GNDR 3100), two Advanced Theory courses, two Disciplinary Seminar courses, and three Electives from within the Gender Studies curriculum.

Minor

Students who minor in Gender Studies will complete a total of 21 credit hours of coursework. It is broken down in the following requirements: an introduction to Gender Studies course, two core courses (GNDR 3900 and GNDR 3100), one Advanced Theory course, one Disciplinary Seminar course, and two Electives from within the Gender Studies curriculum.

Graduate Certificate

Students pursuing the Gradate Certificate in Gender Studies will complete a total of 15 credit hours. There are two core required classes required for the certificate: GNDR 6500 (Debates in Gender Studies – taught every fall) and GNDR 6700 (an Interdisciplinary Seminar on Gender and Sexuality Studies – taught every spring). The other nine credit hours are fulfilled through one elective course within Gender Studies and two more elective courses that can be taken either through the student’s home department, Gender Studies, or another department (all electives must be approved by the Gender Studies Advisor).
