The Encircle Intern supports the programming at an Encircle House, ensuring that Programs, Friendship Circles, and Drop-in Hours are the best that they can be. They will also have the opportunity to work as a liaise with the community on behalf of the Encircle House, working directly with grade schools, secondary schools, universities, community coalition, nonprofits, businesses, etc. to table, give presentations, and more. Additionally, the Encircle SLC intern will have an opportunity to be a liaison with volunteers on behalf of the Encircle House working directly with volunteers to ensure the resource center’s facilities and services are the best they can be.

Responsibilities

  1. Supervise Drop-in hours once a week
  2. An Encircle Intern will be assigned any of the following depending on the duration and intensity of their internship course:
    • Meets regularly with supervisor for feedback
    • Facilitate a weekly Friendship Circle support group
    • Organize and host a weekly evening Program
    • Participate in trainings and support meetups for Program and Friendship Circle volunteers
    • Plans monthly community engagement events with community stakeholders
    • Implements tabling requests and presentations at the discretion of supervisor
    • Attends community committee meetings, when possible
    • Implements socials at the Encircle House for schools and universities
    • Plans monthly community engagement events with community stakeholders
    • Implements and supports volunteer trainings and community volunteer events at the direction of supervisor
    • Implements and supports volunteer scheduling and volunteer appreciation at the direction of supervisor
    • Provide research to implement the best practices in nonprofit programming
