We did it!
On February 23 and 24, The School for Cultural and Social Transformation joined the annual campus-wide Founder’s Day fundraising and celebration that lasted 1850 minutes (to coincide with the year this University was established).
Marking our second participation, we set a higher goal than last year: to raise $5,000 toward the re-establishment of the Transform Dolores Huerta Scholarship for Social Justice Community Engagement. Dean Kathryn Stockton challenged our supporters — you — to match donations, dollar-for-dollar up to $2,500. Together, we were able to raise a total of $9,905!
Through internships and community-engaged learning, we assist our students in putting their intellectual excitement to work with trusted community organizations. We place high value on community-engaged learning that enables students to gain lived experience, develop mentorship networks, and build new ways of applying knowledge gleaned in the classroom.
The Transform Dolores Huerta Scholarship will facilitate our student-leaders’ efforts to put ideas from the classroom into forceful motion to change the world. Specifically, your contribution will provide financial assistance to undergraduate students who are participating in community-engaged, social justice work via an internship or a project of their own design.
Thank you for your continued support!
